Medical ultrasound is an advanced diagnostic technique that creates detailed images of internal anatomical structures using ultrasound waves. Our clinicians used this technique to create images of internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels, and internal organs. They can use our state-of-the-art ultrasound machines to measure some characteristics of these anatomical structures (e.g., distances and velocities) or to generate informative audible sounds from physiological processes (e.g., blood flow through a blood vessel). Using ultrasound technologies benefits you and your pets because they provide real-time images, are portable, and can be brought to the bedside. Ultrasound studies are substantially lower in cost than other imaging strategies and do not use harmful ionizing radiation.
